Website

This past week, I had some spare time and figured it was a good opportunity to update parts of my website. The projects section needed the most work since I had rushed to finish it, ultimately just pasting images of my work with hyperlinks. So, I decided to make it look nicer and function better. I landed on a scrolling display that adds some user interaction. Now, the projects are organized into two categories: website development and other projects.

I like the section’s functional and minimalist design, and I think it looks much better than before.

Competition

For the second (and final) year, I participated in the M3 competition with a group of friends. The competition felt much easier this time—likely because we had the timing down from last year. Plus, you naturally get smarter each year, which I think was clearly reflected in the quality of our final solution paper. Below are a few excerpts from the final paper.

While last year’s problem centered more on solution-based ideas, this year’s challenge focused on making future predictions and extrapolating less accessible data. The overarching theme was heat waves and temperature forecasting, but our paper specifically examined predicting indoor temperatures, identifying peak energy consumption, and equitably allocating resources based on the vulnerability of different populations.

Game

One of my classes recently posed the question, “What is your favorite game?”—as in a video game or something you play on your phone or console. I answered with Hitman 3, or really the entire Hitman series, but there was one phenomenal response that I have to mention. Someone specifically said 2K20, and I couldn’t agree more.

In my opinion, FIFA 20 wasn’t that great, which meant I spent nearly all of quarantine playing the 2K20 franchise instead. I created a receding hairline, 7-foot-tall Asian center with a yellow headband and full tattoo sleeves. I remember playing pickup games in the park for hours at a time. Here’s one of the only photos I have left of my character since they shut the servers down.
